Maid of Honor:
Rebecca Flatt Shandel and Rebecca met while studying Social Work together at SJSU. At first, Rebecca assumed Shandel's quiet demeanor meant she was "proper" and feared offending her. However, as that demeanor faded it revealed quite the opposite person. They discovered that they are practically the same people, sharing values, interests, and sailor mouths! They are soul sisters. |
Best Man:
Peter Harkins Pete is Andrew’s brother and is a skilled fabricator for the USGS based out of Santa Cruz, CA where he lives. While he often frequents local haunts and hangouts in Santa Cruz, he still finds time to drive over the hill to San Jose to visit family, friends, and to work on his beloved truck. Pete's high sense of fashion ranges from grease monkey to GQ. Pete and Andrew have always enjoyed playing hockey with their sister, Catherine. |
Man of Honor:
Parry Pardun Shandel and Parry have been best friends since the 6th grade. Parry innocently told Shandel, "You have a mustache. That's ok my sister does too." Shandel knew from that moment on they would be friends for life. Despite living far apart for 12 years, their friendship remains the same strong bond they created that fateful day Parry pointed out her mustache. |
Groomsman:
Januel Mercado Januel and Andrew have spent much of their art education and careers as inseparable friends for the past 10 years. They met in Art 28 at San Jose State and are now co-workers at DreamWorks Animation. Januel's wit, sense of humor, and comic antics have kept Andrew's dry and serious tone from spiraling into control. |
Man of Honor:
Colby Silvernail Long story short, Colby did not like Shandel on their very first encounter. Not due to a fault of her own, but due to circumstance. After that awkward first encounter, it didn't take long for Colby and Shandel to realize they were made for each other. They have been inseparable besties ever since, sharing many adventures, countless laughs, and stories about their regularity. |
Groomsman:
Elizabeth Harkins Born a month and a half apart in life, Andew and his cousin Elizabeth have known each other virtually all their lives. From Lego, to Dukes of Hazzard, to hikes, to nighttime slingshot outings, to Spanish videos, and days at Cal, there was never a shortage of adventures. Always the athletic type, Elizabeth would keep Andrew active as they grew up. Elizabeth is now proudly protecting the community as a fire fighter. |
Bridesmaid:
Alexandra Valenzuela Shandel and Alexandra's friendship blossomed in the 7th grade. They were both incredibly dorky social outcasts with bad hair, oversized cargo pants, and chain wallets. Their friendship thrived through their unhealthy obsessions with The X-Files and Steve Buscemi. They also shared aspirations to become amazing skateboarders and film writers (neither of which happened). |
Groomsman:
James Harkins James is Andrew's cousin. A fellow admirer of bad punk music from the 90's/00's, his love for video games, skating, and drums show off some of his agility and aptitude. Always the skilled one of the family, he now works at a computer company as a computer guy. He has a newfound interest in Tesla Motors and will probably be the first in the family to own an electric car. |
